Jarvis Cocker to judge Pulp karaoke

Jarvis Cocker has signed up for an unusual assignment - judging a Pulp karaoke competition in New York.

The band's frontman will adjudicate at the event next week, NME reports.

Those who don't want to sing Pulp's most famous track, Common People, are being told they have a better chance of being selected for the competition in Brooklyn.

But the famous song, which reached number two in the UK singles chart in 1992, is on the full list of tracks fans can choose from.

They include All Time High, Babies, Disco 2000, Do You Remember The First Time, Help The Aged, Mile End, Monday Morning, Sorted For E's and Wizz and This is Hardcore.

The event is set to take place after a screening of Pulp's new film Pulp: A Film About Life, Death, And Supermarkets as well as a Q+A with the singer and the film's director, Florian Habicht.

Stipulations for wannabe performers include "creativity" and "no nudity please".

Would be entrants can tweet their plea to perform for Cocker to the event organise rs.
