The Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer (5SoS) was started by college friends in 2011. At first the group performed cover versions of well-known global hits and tried to build up their popularity with the help of YouTube’s video hosting. In 2013, the members of 5 Seconds of Summer were invited to open for the band One Direction during its world tour. The band’s aspiring musicians could hardly pass up such an opportunity to introduce themselves to thousands of listeners, and they accepted the invitation with enthusiasm. Not long afterwards, 5 Seconds of Summer released their self-titled debut album, which was highly successful in many countries. |
