Slipknot's Corey Taylor cancelled solo tour after 'complete and utter breakdown'

Slipknot's Corey Taylor has revealed that he cancelled his solo tour after suffering a "complete and utter breakdown".

The musician took to Instagram on Wednesday after fans expressed concern for his health following the cancellation of his U.S. tour a month before it was due to begin.

In the video, the Slipknot frontman also addressed his fans' response to his announcement that he will still be embarking on a four-date Asia tour, consisting of three shows in Japan and one in the Philippines, from late March to early April.

"I decided to make this video in response to a lot of the feedback that came out after I announced that I would be carrying on with my Southeast Asia run," Cory, 50, began. "Originally, that was supposed to be mentioned in the statement that I released relating to my mental health lapse."

"I, over the last year, have had a complete and utter breakdown of boundaries, mental health, ego, entitlement, the whole nine yards, culminating in a very, very real, very near relapse that... I kind of don't recognise myself," he continued candidly. "So, again, I wanted to address this and just tell people that I needed time to reset, I needed time to start working on my heart and my mind and get straight. The reason I'm keeping the Southeast Asia run, it's literally four shows, it's literally a week. I'm gonna see how I do with that and just take it day by day, basically."

The performer noted that he is "getting the help that I need" before ending the video by thanking his fans for their concern.

The rocker announced the cancellation of the U.S. tour on 5 January, explaining that he was struggling with his mental and physical health.

The U.S. tour was due to kick off in Toronto on 3 February and end on 3 March in Omaha, Nebraska.
