Kanye West (Ye) is an American rapper, producer and songwriter who first gained major attention through his production work for Jay-Z and other Roc-A-Fella artists. His 2004 debut album The College Dropout established him as a performer in his own right. West repeatedly reinvented his sound, moving from the soul-sampling style of his early work to the Auto-Tuned melancholy of 808s & Heartbreak and the dense, ambitious production of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
