Los Manseros Santiagueños are one of the longest-running and most recognizable groups in Argentine folk music, founded in Santiago del Estero in 1959 by Onofre Paz and Leocadio del Carmen Torres. Carlos Carabajal and Carlos Leguizamón later joined them, turning the original duo into a full ensemble. Their repertoire is rooted in traditional regional forms such as chacareras, gatos and escondidos, while close vocal harmonies, guitars and the bombo legüero became central to their distinctive sound. Although the line-up has changed many times, Los Manseros Santiagueños have remained closely identified with the musical traditions of Santiago del Estero and became one of their most important representatives; in 2025, the group received the Platinum Konex Award for folk ensemble. |
