Eppu Normaali is a Finnish rock band from Ylöjärvi, formed in 1976. In the late 1970s, the band played punk rock and quickly became a prominent part of Finland’s first punk wave, with the Ramones having a strong influence on its early sound. During the 1980s, Eppu Normaali gradually moved toward a more melodic style, blending rock with elements of pop music. A defining feature of the band is the songwriting of vocalist Martti Syrjä, known for wordplay, irony and sharply observed stories of everyday life. Songs such as Murheellisten laulujen maa and Vuonna ’85 are among Eppu Normaali’s best-known works, and over time the band became one of the key names in Finnish rock. |
