Daniel Toro (1941–2023) was an Argentine singer, guitarist and songwriter from Salta whose songs became part of the country’s folk repertoire. After performing with several folk groups, he launched his solo career in 1966 and received major recognition at the Cosquín Festival the following year. Songs closely associated with him include Cuando tenga la tierra, El Antigal and Mi mariposa triste. Throat cancer severely damaged his voice in 1979 and kept him from singing for years, although he continued to write music. |
