Laufey (Laufey Lín Jónsdóttir) is an Icelandic-Chinese singer-songwriter and cellist who grew up between Reykjavík and Washington, D.C. Classically trained from childhood, she performed as a cello soloist with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra at fifteen and later graduated from Berklee College of Music. Her songs bring together jazz, bossa nova, orchestral writing and contemporary pop, drawing on artists such as Chet Baker and Ella Fitzgerald as well as the Great American Songbook. Her albums Bewitched and A Matter of Time each won a Grammy Award. |
