Sin Bandera is a Mexican-Argentine duo formed by Leonel García and Noel Schajris in Mexico City in the early 2000s. They initially wrote songs together for other artists, but after seeing how audiences responded when they performed the material themselves, they decided to become a duo. The name Sin Bandera (“Without a Flag”) was inspired by an unusual sight at Mexico City’s Campo Marte: a huge flagpole that, for once, had no Mexican flag flying from it. Their debut album, Sin Bandera, brought them widespread recognition and won the Latin Grammy for Best Pop Album by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Albums such as De Viaje, Mañana and Pasado followed, along with songs including Entra en mi vida, Kilómetros, Mientes tan bien and Que lloro. After several years devoted to their solo careers, García and Schajris reunited in 2015 and returned to recording and touring together. |
