Russian folk music originates from the songs of Slavic tribes that inhabited the territories of Kievan Rus in the10th century. Even today Russian folklore demonstrates regional, often ethnic traditions. Many of the songs still in existence today are directly linked with pagan origins, sometimes in combination with the influence of Christian formalism. |
