Vasil Lazarovich was born on August 5, 1981, in Banya-Berezov village of Kosovsky region of Ivano-Frankovsk oblast. He became a professional singer after performing at weddings, in clubs and restaurants, playing the accordion and the piano. He first became famous after playing Alexander II in the musical “Equator” at the Kiev operetta. In 2004 he worked as a soloist with the Orchestra of Michael Finberg in Belarus. He also took part in the Slaviansky Bazaar contest. In 2007 he took 9th place in the New Wave competition in Jurmala (Latvia). In early 2010 Ukraine’s Eurovision representative in Oslo was selected without a vote. However after the change in political leadership and the TV company management, a full-scale national final was held in which Vasil came 7th, while Alyosha was chosen as the winner.
