Alyosha (born Olena Kucher) is a Ukrainian singer with a unique 4-octave vocal range. In 2006 she won the Yalta-2006 international competition and in 2008 she came first in the international “Pesni Morya” (Songs of the Sea) contest at Sevastopol. Her song “Sneg” (Snow), performed in Russian, took Ukrainian viewers by storm. In 2010 Alyosha won the Ukrainian National Final with her song “To Be Free”. However after accusations of plagiarism were shown to be justified, the song was changed to “Sweet People”. |
