Michel Teló was born on January 21, 1981 in Medianeira, Brazil. For 11 years he was the singer with the famous Brazilian group Grupo Tradição. In 2008 Michel Teló went solo and a year later his debut album Balada Sertaneja was released. He gained international popularity in 2011 when a video of Brazilian football player Neymar dancing in the locker room to Teló’s Ai Se Eu Te Pego! appeared on the Internet. The dance by the Santos’s forward became so popular that it soon appeared online again in a video where two of the world’s most popular footballers, Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo Vieira, dance it right in the middle of a game after a goal. Since then both videos have been watched by over 10 million people, while Michel Teló and his ‘football dance’ song have become not only a Brazilian, but also a European favourite.
