The band “Izabo” was founded in 1989 in Petah Tikva, Israel. Their music is a mix of psychedelia, folk rock, funk, Jamaican raggae, Brit pop and Middle Eastern tunes. The band’s front man Ran Shem-Tov has a distinctive, shrill voice and writes most of the band’s songs. Although “Izabo” perform many of their songs in English they are very popular at home. In 2012 an ad hoc committee chose “Izabo” to represent Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. |
