Litesound was formed in 2005 in Minsk and released its first album three years later. One of the songs in the album, The Life, became a jingle for the mobile operator MTS and brought wide recognition to Litesound. In 2012 the band participated in the Belarusian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest and finished second in the finals. Although a winner in the Eurofest contest (Alyona Lanskaya) was selected and awarded the prize, the public and the country’s president argued that the voting results could not be trusted. Soon thereafter, a special committee convened by the president concluded that the national selection results were flawed, and Litesound received the privilege to represent Belarus at Eurovision in Baku.
