As soon as the eleventh season of the popular show American Idol appeared on the screens in the US in January 2012, one of its contestants, Phillip Phillips, won the audience’s hearts. The record number of votes cast in support of this young artist in the final helped the talented young man from Albany, Georgia, win the show and kick-started his musical career. His debut album, The World from the Side of the Moon, released in 2012, confidently landed at the top of Billboard 200, Rock Albums Chart and Canadian Albums Chart, and quickly gained Gold status. In his first official record Phillip Phillips also revealed himself as a songwriter: most of the tracks were written or co-written by him. |
