Café Tacvba

Brief information

The Mexican musical collective Café Tacvba was established in 1989. The name of the group came from the name of the Café de Tacuba, which opened in 1912 in the center of Mexico City and became widely popular among members of the local Pachuca subculture three decades later. Having changed the "u" to "v" in the written name in order to avoid a legal situation with the owners of the cafe, the band began its musical life. Over many years of creative activity the musicians recorded seven studio albums, including several songs that became soundtracks for popular films ("Amores Perros," "Y Tu Mamá También") and video games (FIFA Football 2004).
