The electronic duo Daft Punk was founded in 1993 by French musicians Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. Paying special attention to visual effects in their performances and wishing to fence off their work from their private lives, the musicians started hiding their faces behind special masks from the very first days of performing on stage and, faced with the windfall of success following the release of Discovery, even donned robot gear. Throughout the years of its existence the duo earned a reputation as one of the best-known French electronic groups. Daft Punk released four studio and a few live albums, one of which won a Grammy for Best Electronic/Dance Album. |
