Despite the well-established stereotypes about Finnish rock, which embraces glam, metal, and Gothic rock, the Helsinki band Sunrise Avenue managed to achieve success outside their native country, playing a quite different kind of music, which they describe as “sunny rock”. The band’s debut album, On the Way to Wonderland, was released in 2006, and in 2007 Sunrise Avenue were honored as best musicians with four nominations, including Best Nordic Band, at the largest Scandinavian music award, NRJ Radio Awards. |
