Italian singer Emma Marrone became widely known in her country after a successful performance on the popular talent show “Amici di Maria De Filippi” in 2010. That same year, her debut mini-album was highly commended by the audience and received the title “Multi-platinum album” at the prestigious Italian Wind Music Awards. Four years later, Emma gained the right to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. At the time when Italy’s contestant was being chosen, the singer’s popularity was so great, that for the first time in twenty-three years the name of the artist that was to represent the country in the international contest was announced prior to the Sanremo Music Festival and was not subject to its results. |
