In the year 2000 one German tobacco manufacturer needed a new song for its commercial. The job was commissioned to two musicians, Inga Humpe and Tommi Eckart, who quickly wrote a song, Wir trafen uns in einem Garten. Out of the blue, the song became so popular in Germany that the musicians decided to release it as a debut single by their newly-formed band. The band was named 2raumwohnung, which translates as “two-room apartment”. Within a short space of time the band was discovered by audiences across Europe, whereas in Russia it became known once MAXIMUM radio started playing English versions of some of their songs. |
