Young Italian singers Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble had no problems winning the judges’ and the viewers’ hearts at the 2009 music show, Ti laschio una canzone. In those days, each of the young men competed for himself, but the show organizers estimated that the three artists could make a great success if they worked in collaboration, and so an opera pop trio, Il Volo, was born. Their first album was recorded in 2010 and brought the trio worldwide acclaim and the top position in Billboard’s best classical albums chart. In 2015 Il Volo became Italy’s bid for the Eurovision Song Contest. |
