The band ‘Genealogy’—representing Armenia at Eurovision-2015—is an unusual international project. It is composed of musicians from Europe, Asia, America, Australia and Africa. These are the five parts of the world to which hundreds of thousands of Armenians were forced to emigrate during the genocide of 1915—the most tragic event in their people’s history—taking place on the territories then controlled by the Ottoman Empire. On the hundredth anniversary, the forget-me-not was chosen as a symbol to commemorate the event, its petals representing the listed parts of the world. All the band members are descendants of Armenians.
