The Finnish band Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät (PKN) was chosen to represent its country at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. The band was founded in 2009 in a Helsinki-based charity workshop for people with disabilities. Each of the four bandmates was diagnosed with Down’s syndrome. Despite their ongoing health condition, the PKN guys still manage to write music and play instruments. Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät was featured in the 2012 documentary, The Punk Syndrome. The film was first shown at the Tampere Film Festival where it won the Audience Award. |
