In 2008 the name of Briton Joe Cocker was included in the “100 Greatest Singers of All Time” list compiled by the influential Rolling Stone magazine. His low and raspy baritone became his trademark, and many of Cocker’s songs went down in the history of music not only as blues and rock superhits but also as some of the most famous soundtracks from popular movies. Incidentally, one of those movies earned Joe Cocker the unofficial “king of striptease” title: in the film 9½ Weeks, Kim Basinger performed the dance to his interpretation of “You Can Leave Your Hat On” song, known around the world as a “striptease anthem”. |
