In his youth, Joe Dassin dreamed of a career in medicine, and later, in ethnology. However, his family background (he was a son of Jules Dassin, an accomplished film director) along with his creative calling overcame his interest in science, quickly reorienting the young man’s professional aspirations toward film and music. After a short period of being torn between the big screen and the stage, Joe made a decision to dedicate his life to music, and his choice did not disappoint. In the fourteen years that his career in music lasted, Joe Dassin became one of the iconic faces of French chanson, and his songs, recorded on more than twenty albums, remain popular to this day; new editions keep coming out even after the passing of the artist himself. |
