In 2017, Manel Navarro, an aspiring singer, guitarist, and composer from Spain, took part in the national final tour for the Eurovision song contest. In the final round, he and another participant, Mirela, had the same number of votes, but the jury panel decided to throw its support behind him and send him to Ukraine for the Eurovision contest. The decision, which later brought upon the panel accusations of bias and partiality toward Manel Navarro, caused a firestorm among the competition’s audience in Spain, but did not result in any serious consequences. |
