Sinise's band raising money for vet

Gary Sinise is keeping a promise to help raise money for a Marine who lost his limbs in Afghanistan.

The CSI: New York star - who played disabled Vietnam War veteran Lt Dan in Tom Hanks movie Forrest Gump - is set to perform with his band, which is named after the fictional character, in the US this week.

The performance was originally due to take place in March but the actor had to postpone the fundraiser after he was injured in a car accident.

Gary's foundation is helping build a specially equipped home for 22-year-old Marine Cpl JB Kerns, who lost his right arm below the elbow and both his legs below the knees in an explosion in Afghanistan.

The 57-year-old actor said he has been involved in supporting the military for years but became more active after 9/11.
