Morrissey album in US sales halt

Morrissey's new album has apparently been removed from iTunes in America.

Website Slicing Up Eyeballs said that the record, World Peace Is None Of Your Business, has also disappeared from streaming services like Spotify and Rdio.

It comes just a week after Morrissey claimed he and his record label Harvest had parted company, and a couple of days after he released a long statement in which he said they had "botched" the release of the record.

He accused them of not spending money to release proper music videos, instead concentrating on making spoken word films.

The former Smiths frontman said in his statement - which was posted on his fansite True To You - that he thought the album would be removed.

He said: "I might be wrong, but I think World Peace Is None Of Your Business will instantly disappear from iTunes and record stores and every download-upload-offload outlet on the planet, because Harvest technically have no right to sell it."

Morrissey, 55, has often found himself falling out with record companies, chronicling some of his dissatisfactions with the music business in his memoir Autobiography which was published last year.
