Ed Sheeran collaborates with 'good friend' Taylor Swift for new hit tune

Ed Sheeran has released a new collaborative version of his song The Joker And The Queen alongside Taylor Swift.

Ed, 30, labelled the US singer, 32, his "good friend" as the pair hope to take the charts by storm. .

The song, featuring vocals from the Shake It Off singer, was released at midnight on Thursday with its video being simultaneously premiered on YouTube.

Hundreds of thousands of fans flocked to watch the video following its release with many liking what they heard.

The video for the tune sees the return of two youngsters who previously featured in the video for the pop stars' 2012 collaboration Everything Has Changed.

In it the lives of the young pair, one with a red haired mop similar to the Shape of You singer's, are shown in parallel.

They then seemingly head off to different schools while singing the song's wistful lyrics back to one another.

The duo are sweetly seen reuniting at the end.

The megastars have previously worked together on several songs such as End Game, Run and Everything Has Changed.

Taylor took to social media to reveal the young actors had returned for the video.

On Instagram, the singer said: "This video makes me think of our friendship all these years.

"Also can't believe Jack and Ava from the Everything Has Changed video came back and did this.

"Nostalgic heaven!"

Ed first released The Joker And The Queen back in October as part of his fifth studio album titled Equals.

The album went on to top the charts, and two of its tracks, Shivers and Bad Habits, also took the top spot in the singles chart.

On Tuesday night Ed won a BRIT Award for Songwriter Of The Year. He was also tasked with kicking off the ceremony with a performance alongside metal band Bring Me The Horizon.

Earlier this month he was also named the world's most played artist on the radio, beating the likes of Dua Lipa to the accolade.
