Billie Eilish has been 'in pain' since she was a child due to joint injuries

Billie Eilish has been "in pain" for many years as a result of joint issues.

In an interview for the November 2024 issue of Vogue magazine, the Birds of a Feather singer opened up about her physical health.

Billie revealed the pain she suffers stems from physical injuries she sustained while performing and from having hypermobility - a condition that means her joints have a greater range of movement than normal.

"I've basically been in pain since I was nine," she said. "Growing up, I'd always hear people be like, 'Just wait until you're older! You're going to have so much pain!' And I remember being so furious."

Billie went on to note that her mental health was also impacted by many years on tour.

She recalled experiencing "dark times" due to be being isolated and "kind of living like it was temporary".

However, Billie is in a much better place since switching up her perspective on touring.

"I didn't realise that I could make touring enjoyable. I just was very lonely for many years, and I'm not interested in that anymore. I want to enjoy the show as well as my days," the 22-year-old continued.

Elsewhere in the interview, Billie shared that she has been taking singing lessons with a vocal coach to improve her technique.

"I never felt like a singer. I've never had that as my identity," she added. "The truth is that literally the love of my life is singing. And I didn't realise that you can train that instrument and have even more fun with it."

Billie is currently on tour in support of her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.

The next show takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on Wednesday night.
