NewsJanuary, 10 Kiwanuka: I worried about name![]() Michael Kiwanuka has revealed he feared he'd never crack the music business - because of his name. The soul star, who this month topped the BBC Sound of 2012 list of most promising musical stars for the year ahead, told the Daily Star: "I was insecure that Michael Kiwanuka sounded like a world music artist. "I thought people would pigeon-hole me before I'd got started. I didn't think people could pronounce it. "But the other names I considered weren't that serious - Michael K sounds like a dance producer alias." The Home Again singer, 24, said he's made his family proud by sticking with his real name. And he admitted: "I've only started to feel confident on stage as a singer in the last few months." Michael was joined in last week's BBC Sound of 2012 top five by US singer-songwriter Frank Ocean, rapper Azealia Banks, Dubstep producer Skrillex and Swedish dance duo Niki And The Dove.
