Material Girl fills Murrayfield

Thousands of people have watched the Queen of Pop play her first concert in Scotland.

Madonna fans packed Murrayfield stadium to see the singer in action.

The pop superstar married Guy Ritchie at Skibo Castle in the Highlands in 2000, but has never played a show in Scotland.

A computer glitch gave away hundreds of free tickets by mistake earlier this year.

The capital is one of more than 20 European cities included in the tour, alongside shows in North and South America, Israel and Australia where Madonna has not performed for 20 years.

The Material Girl donned a skimpy cheerleader's outfit and bright red lipstick as she took to the stage.

The show received mixed reviews from fans who took to social networking sites to voice their opinions.

Lindsay Galbraith, from Glasgow tweeted: "Well Madonna gig pretty disappointing and sound at Murrayfield truly awful!", and Aileen Muir wrote on the site: "Well #madonna at Murrayfield was hugely disappointing. Perhaps the worst concert I've been to."

But others were more positive.

Duncan McFadzean, from Edinburgh, tweeted: "Madonna, always edgy, great to see all Murrayfield going mental".
