Church to stand in as Radio 2 DJ

Singer Charlotte Church is turning DJ by becoming a guest presenter on BBC Radio 2.

The former child star, who reinvented herself as a pop act, is to be a stand-in for the station's Dermot O'Leary.

It comes as Martine McCutcheon becomes a temporary host on the network, replacing Paul O'Grady for his weekly shows.

Charlotte, who has been vocal about press intrusion and the sexism of the music industry in recent years, will host her programme on Saturday July 26 at 3pm.

She said: "I'm really looking forward to standing in for Dermot O'Leary while he's away. I'm hugely passionate about all sorts of music and I can't wait to share some of my favourite tracks."

Martine steps in tomorrow and the following Sunday for Paul O'Grady. Graham Norton will also be replaced over the summer by a number of stand-ins with John Bishop, Patrick Kielty and Lee Mack taking turns on the Saturday morning show.
