Allen 'shuts down' over negativity

Lily Allen has said she deals with criticism by going into "shutdown mode".

The Air Balloon singer has had to deal with negative comments recently on her Twitter account after she announced that she would be replacing Two Door Cinema Club in the headline slot at Latitude festival.

According to the Daily Mirror, Lily said she coped by going into "shutdown mode", adding: "I mean, that's the only way to deal with it I think. It's kind of boring talking about negative stuff all the time."

After festival goers blasted her over their disappointment she would be the replacement, Lily tweeted: "If you're going to be rude about my replacing @TDCinemaClub on here, can you just un @ me please ? I'm so exhausted by the nastiness.

"I understand that you're disappointed but I don't think that warrants abuse. They asked, I accepted, I will give it my all, and hope you enjoy."

Earlier this week, the singer explained why her recent album Sheezus had flopped, blaming hormones, trusting other people and not being up to scratch: "Maybe the songs aren't good enough this time, who knows? I just know I can't wait to get back into the studio."

Lily also spoke about her exhausting tour schedule from Australia, where she is currently: "I played at Latitude Festival on Friday, Benicassim on Saturday, and a French festival on Sunday, and then got on a plane to Australia.

"I don't know if it's advisable to do that kind of travel."
