Prodigy album 'pure violent energy'

The Prodigy's Liam Howlett has suggested the group's new album is an antidote to "formula-based" dance music.

The keyboard player revealed to Q magazine that when it came to making their sixth studio album, the Omen singers didn't want to churn out the type of material they feel has become typical today.

He said: "Dance music across all types has become formula-based.

"It's 'Here's your drum fill, here's your build.' All that DJ b******s and tutorials on YouTube s**t.

"This album is totally organic. Pure violent energy."

Liam has previously revealed that the record would be edgier than their 2009 offering Invaders Must Die.

He told NME earlier this year: "It's more violent-sounding; it feels wilder.

"It's not so much old-school. It's neither guitar-based not synth-based; it's kind of a mixture."
