Neil Young and Crazy Horse cancel tour

Neil Young and Crazy Horse have announced they are cancelling their tour.

The Love Earth tour was in full swing in the US, but now the 78-year-old and his band have announced they'll be taking "unplanned break" due to illness.

"The Love Earth Tour has been a great experience for us so far," Neil wrote on his website. "When a couple of us got sick after Detroit's Pine Knob, we had to stop," he continued. "We are still not fully recovered, so sadly our great tour will have a big unplanned break. We will try to play some of the dates we miss as time passes when we are ready to rock again! We know many of you made travel plans and we apologise for the inconvenience. Thanks for your understanding and patience. Health is # 1."

He added, "We want to stay and do more shows and more albums for you.... and for us. With love and thanks to all of you from Crazy Horse..... Neil, Micah, Ralph and Billy Love Earth."

Neil didn't specify who had fallen ill. His new album, Early Daze, is due to be released on 28 June. It's an archival album which was recorded in 1969 with Crazy Horse. It "showcases the band's unique style at the end of the 1960s, capturing the essence of their live performances and their contribution to the evolution of rock and roll."

In March this year, Neil announced his reluctant return to Spotify, two years after he pulled his catalogue from the streaming platform.
