Garth Brooks thanks Las Vegas audience for support amid sexual assault allegations

Garth Brooks has thanked his fans in Las Vegas for supporting him amid accusations of sexual assault.

The country music star took to the stage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace hours after a woman known as Jane Roe filed a lawsuit accusing him of rape and battery.

After the show, the 62-year-old posted a photo on Instagram showing the crowd cheering him on, and revealed how much the performance meant to him.

"If there was ever a night that I really needed this, TONIGHT was that night! Thank you for my life!!!!! Love, g," he wrote in the caption.

Before the concert, Brooks issued a statement in which he denied raping and sexually harassing his former hairstylist and make-up artist in 2019. He claimed the accuser's team had been trying to extort him for "many millions of dollars" for the last two months.

"Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of - ugly acts no human should ever do to another," he stated. "We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides."

Brooks concluded, "I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be."

The singer's wife, country star Trisha Yearwood, has yet to comment on the scandal.

Brooks kicked off his Las Vegas residency in May and it is slated to run until early 2025.
