Taylor Swift breaks records with $2 billion tour

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour grossed a record-breaking $2 billion in ticket sales.

After performing 149 shows in 21 countries around the world, the New York Times has reported Swift raked in $2,077,618,725 (£1.6 billion) as fans flocked to watch the music superstar perform live.

The publication reports that the figures, provided by Swift's production company Taylor Swift Touring, don't include earnings from secondary ticket sales or merchandise.

Swift kicked off her Eras Tour in Arizona, US, on 17 March 2023 and performed her final show in Vancouver, Canada, on Sunday evening.

Before the 34-year-old star launched into a rendition of Lover, the last song in the show's first era, Swift spoke to the audience to mark the final show on 8 December.

"We have toured the entire world with this tour. We have had so many adventures. It has been the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging thing I've ever done in my entire life," she said.

"We've gotten to perform for over 10 million people on this tour. And tonight, we get to play one last show for you here tonight in beautiful Vancouver."

It has been reported 10,168,008 people attended the Eras Tour, meaning the average ticket price was $204 (£160).

In December last year and halfway through her scheduled dates, the Cruel Summer musician had already made history with the first tour to break the $1 billion (£796 million) mark.
