Nelson urged to sing by prosecutor
Willie Nelson can resolve marijuana possession charges by agreeing to plead guilty, pay a fine - and sing Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain for the court, a Texas prosecutor has said.
Country music singer Nelson was arrested on November 26 for marijuana possession at a Border Patrol checkpoint after an agent smelled an odour coming from his vehicle and decided to conduct a search.
County attorney Kit Bramblett said he recommended the penalties to Hudspeth County's judge Becky Dean-Walker. Mr Bramblett said the judge specifically demanded Nelson appear in court instead of pleading by mail, which is a common procedure in such cases.
Mr Bramblett has said the judge "wants to meet Willie".
Ms Dean-Walker did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
Nelson's spokeswoman has declined to comment on the sentencing suggestion.
