Adele enjoys record chart top run

Adele has made pop history as her album 21 completed 10 weeks at number one - the longest for a female solo artist.

She has now held the top spot for a week longer than Queen of Pop Madonna's greatest hits The Immaculate Collection.

The Londoner's debut album 19 stayed at number two. She has now held the top two positions in the album chart for four of the last six weeks.

Her track Someone Like You slipped from number one to number two in the Official Chart Company's singles chart, displaced by Jennifer Lopez, featuring Pitbull, with On The Floor, which entered the list in the top spot.

Party Rock Anthem, by LMFAO, Lauren Bennet and Goonrock, rose from 22 to number three, while Just Can't Get Enough by Black Eyed Peas fell from three to four, and Don't Hold Your Breath by Nicole Scherzinger from two to five. Broken Record by Katy B came into the chart at number eight.

Elsewhere in the Adele-dominated album chart, When Ronan Met Burt, by Ronan Keating and Burt Bacharach, climbed from five to three, while Mine & Yours by X Factor runner up Mary Byrne, The King of Limbs by Radiohead and Femme Fatale by Britney Spears came into the chart at six, seven and eight.
