Tom Fletcher plans to tie the knot

McFly star Tom Fletcher has got engaged to his long-term girlfriend Giovanna Falcone.

Tom, 25, announced on Twitter that he had proposed to Giovanna - who he has dated for seven years after they met at London's Sylvia Young Theatre School.

He tweeted: "OK, you'd find out from someone else sooner or later so I thought I'd be the first one to tell you...

"I proposed to @giovannafalcone earlier tonight...and she said yes! We are now officially engaged!"

He added: "My fiance and I would like to say thanks for all the lovely engagement messages."

He joked later that he had suggested a Star Wars-themed wedding, saying: "She's not digging the Star Wars wedding idea...I want the ring back."
