Take That 'ghost laid to rest'

Robbie Williams said the success of Take That's reunion tour has "finally laid to rest" the band's ghosts.

Robbie quit the band in 1995 sparking a decade of recriminations, particularly with bandmate Gary Barlow, but rejoined for last year's Progress album.

The singer, who recently arrived back home in Los Angeles after the end of the tour, said the reunited five piece were like "brothers bound together" after the tour.

Writing on his blog, he said: "we did exactly what we set out to achieve ... record selling, critically acclaimed album, check ... record busting tour?, check ... 1.8 million happy friendlies?, check ... the ghost of christmas past finally laid to rest, check!"

Robbie, who said he was writing songs for a solo album, admitted to "battling" nerves before the first gig in Sunderland and said he only really relaxed from "about the 3rd manchester gig".

The group had to pull a show in Copenhagen after Robbie became violently ill - the first time they have cancelled a gig - and he admitted "lobstergate did me in ... from then on in I had no real energy".

He said he felt like he had "no power, no strength, no real energy to be the flailing banshee that i wanted to be".
