Sinead: I still have Twitter mates

Sinead O'Connor has revealed she is still in touch with some of the friends she made on Twitter, despite quitting the site.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer joined Twitter earlier this year and said she had great fun chatting to people, but quit recently because of all the abuse she was getting.

Sinead: "I really enjoyed it, but unfortunately there's too many freaks on Twitter, including myself, so I just got fed up of being abused really.

She added: "But I did have the time of my life, I did really enjoy myself. I made some serious friends, I'm still mates with some of the loopers I got on with on Twitter."

The 44-year-old singer, who advertised for a new man on the social networking site, also revealed she had now found a man to fit the bill.

Sinead said: "I did. I finally did. Or he found me."

The Irish star is set to play the final Mencap's Little Noise Sessions at St John-at-Hackney church in London on Sunday November 27, and is looking forward to singing in a church.

Sinead recently performed in an Icelandic church in Reykjavik as part of the 2011 Iceland Airwaves festival.

She said: "That was first time I've ever been allowed to play in a church. I was asked to play a gig in the parish church to raise money for the parish trip to Lourdes and I said I'd love to, but the parish priest wouldn't let me in there. They wouldn't have me because I'm a trouble maker for the church. So it was very nice to finally get to sing in church in Iceland and it'll be lovely to do this too."

Tickets for Mencap's Little Noise Sessions are available at www.littlenoisesessions.org.uk.
