Kiwanuka's nerves before release

Michael Kiwanuka has revealed that he was "pretty nervous" before he released his debut single.

The British soul singer, who was voted as the BBC's Sound of 2012, made the admission as he delivered a souled-out show at London's O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.

"I was pretty nervous about this song," he said before performing Tell Me A Tale, which was released in April 2011.

Armed with his guitars and backing band, Michael - who will play London's Royal Festival Hall on December 5 - performed songs from his debut album, Home Again.

"It's good to be back home in London town. It probably helps me to play at these venues," he told the rousing crowd.

The 24-year-old, whose new single I'll Get Along will be released on May 28, is set to hit the road in the US, Japan and Australia.

His forthcoming dates include a supporting role for Mumford & Sons in Huddersfield, and festival appearances at Latitude, Bestival, Green Man, Electric Picnic, and Radio 1 Hackney Weekender.
