Cher Lloyd festival gig rained off

Cher Lloyd was among the stars due to perform at a music festival that has now been cancelled due to the weather.

The former X Factor contestant, The Human League, Texas and Bob Geldof were all booked to play the two-day MFEST concert at Harewood House in Leeds over the weekend, with 30,000 revellers expected to attend.

In a statement, the event organisers said: "It is with our deepest regret that due to the adverse weather conditions leading up to this event in conjunction with the extreme weather warning as issued by the Met Office for the weekend, we were left with no other decision than to abandon this weekend's MFEST.

"The public's health and safety is of paramount concern, therefore it would be irresponsible to continue no matter how disappointed we all are.

"Information on ticket refunds will be issued on Monday 9th July."

Meanwhile, thousands of fans are braving the rain in Scotland to attend the T In The Park festival.

Snow Patrol, Kasabian and The Stone Roses will headline the 18th annual event in Balado, near Kinross.

Revellers flocked to the area in their thousands ahead of the festival, despite the weather, to secure the best tent pitching spots, and more are expected for the first full day of the musical extravaganza.

Heavy rain has fallen in central Scotland throughout the week and more is expected for the weekend, but the weather is unlikely to put revellers off with mud baths becoming as regular as the big name acts at the festival.

Other acts including New Order, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Twin Atlantic, Jessie J and Brits Critics' Choice winner Emeli Sande.
