Carly Rae Jepsen sued for copyright

Carly Rae Jepsen is reportedly being sued for copyright infringement.

A lawsuit has been filed against the Call Me Maybe singer and Owl City's Adam Young, and two additional writers, Matt Thiessen and Brian Lee, claiming Carly's Top 10 hit Good Time is a copy of another song, Billboard.com reports.

Allyson Nichole Burnett, a singer-songwriter based in Alabama, has alleged Young, Thiessen and Lee copied a "unique vocal motif" from her 2010 song Ah, It's A Love Song for Good Time, which was released by Owl City and Carly Rae this year.

Burnett''s lawsuit alleges that the two songs feature "identical pitch sequence... melodic contour... rhythmic construction... [and] timbre," and goes on to state both tunes share "a catchy pop vibe that both draws people in and sticks in people's heads".

Burnett is also claiming that she has suffered "emotional and psychological damage" as a result of the alleged copyright violation, and says fans have begun asking her why she copied Carly Rae and Owl City's hit.

She is seeking a "constructive trust" to be established in order to collect royalties from the song.

Carly Rae and Adam are yet to comment.
