Rita Ora kicks off MTV awards show

Rita Ora has kicked off this year's MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) in spectacular style.

The singer, who only released her debut album earlier this year, was lowered to the stage suspended in a cage before launching into a version of R.I.P.

She was followed by US pop band Fun who played their massive hit We Are Young, before Carly Rae Jepson performed Call Me Baby.

The event in Frankfurt, Germany, was hosted by supermodel Heidi Klum and had a circus theme with trapeze artists and fire dancers on stage.
