Lady Gaga has thanked her fans

Lady Gaga has undergone surgery on her hip - and has thanked fans for their support as she recovered from the operation.

The Born This Way singer was forced to cancel the rest of her US tour dates last week after being diagnosed with synovitis - a chronic condition which causes joints to swell.

Gaga tweeted from her hospital bed:"Going in for surgery now. Thank you so much for sending me love and support. I will be dreaming of you."

After coming round from the operation she took to her Little Monsters blog to thank her fans, and promised them this is just a temporary bump in the road for her live shows.

She wrote: "Everything happened so fast, but when it came time to face it I reflected on the many stories and experiences you've shared with me about your lives. You have completely blown my mind.

"As they wheeled me into surgery today, I thought about all of your pain and perseverance, your unique family situations, school environments, health issues, homelessness, identity struggles - sometimes you are so brave that it terrifies me.

"So I thought to myself, I'm alive, I'm living my dream, and this is just a bump in the road. I'm grateful because this is temporary, and for some it is not. You have changed my life. I love you and am proud to be a part of your lives. If you can do it, I can do it too, and if we stick together we can get through anything."

The 26-year-old singer - who has been wheelchair bound by the injury - previously apologised to fans for cancelling some of her concerts on doctors orders.
