Mark Ronson celebrates as single and album top charts

The musician has also claimed a sixth non-consecutive week at number one with his single Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars with combined chart sales of 120,000.

The track was streamed 2.562 million times in the last seven days, the Official Charts Company said.

Mark told OfficialCharts.com: “This is absolutely incredible. I want to thank Jeff Bhasker, Michael Chabon and Emile Haynie who were there since the very beginning of this record – as well as Alison Donald, Mark Terry and Jason Iley at Sony UK.

“And finally, thank you to everyone who went out to the shop and bought the CD or pointed and clicked on Uptown Special this week – I really can’t believe it.”

Mark, whose album includes the worldwide smash Uptown Funk and two collaborations with Stevie Wonder, is the first act to achieve the official charts double since Miley Cyrus, who topped the singles chart with Wrecking Ball and the albums chart with Bangerz in the same week back in October 2013.

This week’s second-highest new entry in the albums chart comes from Fall Out Boy, who after leading the chart at the midweek stage finish in second place with their sixth studio album American Beauty/American Psycho, trailing Uptown Special by less than 1,900 copies.

Ed Sheeran is at number three with X, Sam Smith is at number four with In The Lonely Hour, and George Ezra is at number five with Wanted On Voyage.

Icelandic singer-songwriter Bjork debuts at number 11 – her first top 20 album in eight years – with Vulnicura, following its surprise release on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, in the singles chart, US singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor is this week’s highest climber, jumping 48 places to number two with Lips Are Movin’.

The track follows her global smash All About That Bass and is the second single from her debut album Title which is released tomorrow.
